- ➤ At California Lutheran University, President John Nunes gave a Jan. 22 address that launched the 'Where Dreams Take Flight' fundraising campaign, which aims to raise $25 million for scholarships, renovating Samuelson Chapel, and building a track facility for potential Olympic training. - ➤ Local leaders have announced that Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library will launch in Ventura County once $200,000 is raised from community donations with matching funds from the state. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ventura and Santa Barbara County officials have advanced a pilot commuter rail proposal that could offer weekday Amtrak rush-hour service beginning in April. The plan, approved by the Santa Barbara County board in January and pending final approvals, would serve stops from Oxnard to San Luis Obispo, and fares start at $17 (10 rides for $50).
