CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A celebration of Richard D. McNish, namesake of the McNish Classic Yacht Race, was held at the Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club in Oxnard on Saturday. The 49th race will be renamed Memorial to honor his legacy as sailors and family recalled his achievements in sailing and local real estate. KEYT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Clocks will be set forward one hour at 2 a.m. on March 8, giving Californians later sunsets and longer evenings as spring approaches. The time change will shift sunrise and sunset times so residents can enjoy extra daylight after work and school. Ventura County Star
- ➤ The new commuter rail service — funded equally by Ventura and Santa Barbara counties — will launch in late April or early May after agencies approved shared $1.1 million funding on Feb. 19. It offers a morning northbound train from Moorpark and an afternoon trip to ease Highway 101 traffic. Ventura County Star
