  • Ventura County will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day today with a parade on Main Street in Ventura featuring a giant inflatable pig and lively equestrians. Other events include an Irish Fest at Enegren Brewing Co. in Moorpark + family activities at Presley May Farms on March 14.  Ventura County Star
  • On March 12, JustServe volunteers loaded food + donations from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Thousand Oaks, and the supplies were sent to 13 county food pantries.  Ventura County Star

  • 5-Star Theatricals' farcical play 'The Play That Goes Wrong' opened yesterday at the Scherr Forum Theatre in Thousand Oaks, running through March 29. Set designer Cody Rutledge uses unit sets — ensuring safe, well-planned mishaps during the production.  Moorpark Acorn

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Over 400 students with special needs enjoyed 'A Night To Remember,' a prom event that provided free formal wear, professional styling, and limo rides with local volunteers pairing guests on the dance floor last night in Ventura (organizers aimed to make every guest feel like a rock star).  KEYT
  • Trinity Pacific Christian School beat Oak Park High School at the Ventura County student mock trial competition held at the Government Center’s Hall of Justice on March 3 – 24 teams competed in the event that gave students practical courtroom experience.  Moorpark Acorn

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Black Walnut battery energy storage project in Santa Paula celebrated its opening on March 12 after operating since Oct. 2025.  Ventura County Star
  • A record heatwave has gripped Ventura County as Oxnard set a new 94°F record + Camarillo reached 93°F earlier this week; forecasts predict a return of intense heat on March 17 with temperatures rising into the high 90s and low 100s.  Ventura County Star
  • In January 2025, wildfires burned thousands of acres and destroyed many homes, and rebuilding proceeded slowly. A local wildfire mitigation specialist advises homeowners to use affordable fire-resistant upgrades like ember-resistant vents and treated wood to lower risks for future fires – measures that can also reduce insurance costs.  Moorpark Acorn
  • The MRCA added 326 acres of protected open space after an anonymous donation was finalized in late February. The parcels in the Seminole Hot Springs area connect with existing parkland and border the La Sierra Preserve, creating a wide wildlife corridor.  Moorpark Acorn

HEALTH NEWS

  • St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard began offering a new treatment called neuroimmune modulation to help adults with rheumatoid arthritis whose symptoms are not controlled by current therapies. The procedure uses electrical stimulation of the left vagus nerve — a new approach that targets autoimmune response.  Moorpark Acorn

SPORTS NEWS

  • Ventura County Football Club won its home opener by a score of 4 to 2 against Vancouver Whitecaps Football Club 2 on March 1 at William Rolland Stadium on the Cal Lutheran campus and will meet St. Louis tomorrow at 5 p.m. in the MLS Next Pro league.  Moorpark Acorn
