EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Los Cerritos Middle School was one of only two Conejo Valley schools chosen as a 2026 California Distinguished School, selected among 408 statewide for exemplary academic outcomes. The award ceremony is set for April 24 at Disneyland Hotel. Thousand Oaks Acorn
- ➤ Conejo Valley Unified School District approved MagicSchool, an AI tool, after a trial with local high schools prompted a 4-1 board vote on March 19. The district will fund the platform at three schools until school year end to aid lesson planning and IEP writing. Thousand Oaks Acorn
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents can comment on renewing the state permit for continued groundwater cleanup at the former TFX Aviation site (3085 Old Conejo Road) in Newbury Park until April 15. The permit renewal would allow post-closure care to continue for another 10 years with reduced groundwater monitoring frequency. Thousand Oaks Acorn
- ➤ Ventura County logged its warmest March in over a century with an average temperature of 62.1°F, breaking a 2015 record, NOAA data shows. Local cities Camarillo and Oxnard recorded new daily highs as the warmth reduced Sierra Nevada snowpack levels. Ventura County Star
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ California Public Utilities Commission will shift the Climate Credit on electric bills so customers get it during high-use months instead of in April and October (vote expected April 30), while natural gas credits remain on April bills until they move to February starting in 2027 (per proposal).
