ECONOMY NEWS

  • Food banks warn that 90% cuts to CalFood and SNAP will reduce supplies and extend lines at Ventura County distributions (for example at Oxnard College Park). State officials will review the cuts in May while lawmakers are urged to provide $110 million to support 200 agencies.  KEYT

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Oxnard and Port Hueneme beaches closed after 12,000 gallons of treated sewage spilled from the wastewater treatment plant on Apr. 22 at 10:53 a.m.—authorities say the beaches will remain closed until tests confirm the water meets state standards. County officials advise surfers and swimmers to avoid rain-affected water.  Ventura County Star
