- ➤ Oaks Christian School hosted a star studded dinner auction gala on April 25 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake Village where actor Neal McDonough led a celebration of 26 years and announced a new elementary campus opening in August at 975 Evenstar Avenue in Thousand Oaks, raising over $1 million. - ➤ Mesa Union School District said it will install an emergency water bypass — financed with Measure O Bond funds — to meet state standards and prevent water shutoff from Del Norte scheduled for June 30. - ➤ Blue creatures (called velella velella) resembling jellyfish have been washing up on local beaches in recent weeks, including along Ventura’s shoreline, as shifting winds drive the colonial hydroids with small triangular sails ashore; they rarely harm humans despite stinging cells.
