- ➤ Cal State Channel Islands was recently named—by the American Council on Education and the Carnegie Foundation—for designation as a Research College and an Opportunity College, making it one of only 33 schools to earn these honors. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On May 7, the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District approved a conceptual plan (4-1 board vote) to build a BMX track on an 11-acre site next to the Sinaloa Golf Course, and General Manager Dan Paranick will sign contracts with consultants to prepare the needed site application. The $2.6 million project, expected to complete in under three years, follows years of delays since the Sycamore BMX Raceway closed (local concerns include traffic and lighting) and aims to offer a new outdoor space for youth.
