- ➤ The 16th annual Channel Islands Safe Boating Expo held at Channel Islands Harbor kicked off Safe Boating Week today. Attendees saw rescue demonstrations, boarded first responder vessels, joined a life jacket exchange and received boat ID card details from Coast Guard representatives. KEYT
- ➤ Locals are enjoying the California Strawberry Festival today at Ventura County Fairgrounds, sampling fresh strawberries grown at Faria Farm (Oxnard) and sipping strawberry beer while making custom shortcakes and dancing to live music. Free shuttles and carnival rides add to the fun as the event raises funds for farm worker scholarships. KEYT

- ➤ Jon Vella’s family filed a wrongful death suit after the musician died from a mix of kratom and alcohol in Thousand Oaks in April 2025, as Ventura City Council prepares to ban these unregulated products (a move aimed at curbing health risks). Ventura County Star
