➤ CSU Channel Islands honored more than 1,500 graduates in two ceremonies on May 23 at its quad and Camarillo campus and awarded honorary doctorates to two local community leaders, including Inlakech Cultural Arts Center founder Javier Gomez. Ventura County Star

➤ On Saturday, Ventura County firefighters reported that the Sandy Fire in the Simi Valley hills was 61% contained as crews worked on mop-up efforts & checked for hot spots. Simi Valley schools will reopen Tuesday after fire-related closures. Ventura County Star
