- ➤ On June 2, a 24 year old Santa Paula man was arrested in Rosarito, Baja California+ he is suspected of killing a 26 year old woman whose body was found in a Santa Paula residence on May 31. Ventura County Star
- ➤ Angela Elizabeth Phillips, a 53-year-old from Oak View working for an organic food supplement business, was arrested Tuesday in Ojai by Santa Barbara and Ventura County Sheriff's Office detectives for fraud and embezzlement totaling over $750,000—she is now held on $800,000 bail. KEYT

- ➤ Frontier High School in Camarillo celebrated its class of 2025 at Oxnard College on June 2 — about 200 students graduated — in a quiet ceremony marking a milestone for the school. Ventura County Star
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Los Padres Hotshots fought four small wildfires caused by lightning strikes from a fast-moving storm over the weekend in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. Los Padres National Forest spokesman Flemming Bertelsen said they checked every spot to stop any ember from starting a new fire — and the National Weather Service warns that more thunderstorms with heavy rainfall and gusty winds may come on Tuesday. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, the USDA changed its plan and stopped closing nine field offices in California, including the Natural Resources Conservation Services office in Oxnard, which were part of past cost-cutting moves. Secretary Rollins said termination notices have been pulled for offices in Bakersfield, Blythe, Los Angeles, and Salinas and added that she will work with the GSA to prevent more closures—local leaders worry such cuts could hurt farmers.
