  • Volunteers from Ventura County picked up fresh goods at Food Share in Oxnard on July 8 to stock nearly 200 county pantries. Demand for these supplies is expected to grow due to federal budget cuts.  Ventura County Star

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Ventura issued permits for six cannabis dispensaries, but only three have opened because permit holders did not meet deadlines and their permits expired on June 30. Dispensary owners say high taxes and tough licensing rules—along with competition from the black market—have slowed progress and raised costs, and the city has no plans to issue new permits soon.  Ventura County Star

CRIME NEWS

  • On July 10, federal immigration agents raided Glass House Farms outside Camarillo — blocking a road and clashing with over 100 protesters — and used gas canisters that injured several people as first responders declared a mass casualty incident.  Ventura County Star

  • On August 4th, Susan A. Andrzejewski will become Interim President at CSU Channel Islands after serving as dean of the Martin V.
