  • Hospice of the Conejo offers nearly 50 free grief support meetings monthly for those who have lost loved ones or pets — the groups are led by licensed therapists and held at various Conejo locations including Thousand Oaks, Moorpark and Simi Valley.  Moorpark Acorn

BUSINESS NEWS

  • After a two-week break for routine maintenance, SpaceX plans to resume its Starlink missions from Vandenberg Space Force Base with a Falcon 9 launch as early as July 13; official details remain unconfirmed. Ventura residents may hear sonic booms and see the booster land on a drone ship if weather permits.  Ventura County Star

CRIME NEWS

  • On July 10, 2025, a man allegedly fired a pistol at federal law enforcement during an operation on Laguna Rd between Wood Rd and Las Posas Rd in Camarillo—FBI now offers a $50,000 reward for information leading to his conviction.  KEYT
  • Federal agents raided Glass House Farms in Camarillo and Carpinteria on Thursday as part of an investigation into alleged child labor law violations after ten minors (including eight unaccompanied illegal aliens) were found; agents arrested multiple individuals and warned that interference would result in federal charges.  KEYT
  • Former Camarillo High teacher and wrestling coach Ronald Wilson was arrested on July 10 and now faces additional sex crime charges after two survivors reported he allegedly sexually assaulted them while students—he remains in custody at Ventura County Main Jail.  KEYT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ventura County artists will have an opportunity to enter A Body of 3, a juried art exhibit at Camarillo Art Center, by submitting three related works wired ready to hang that fit a 36-inch by 60-inch space, with art take-in scheduled for July 27 from 1 to 3 p.m.—the entry fee will be $25 for members or $30 for non-members. The exhibit will run from Aug. 2 through Aug. 31 and an artists’ reception with awards will take place on Aug. 10 from 1 to 4 p.m.  Moorpark Acorn
  • Workers set up the big top tent at Marinelli Bros. Circus on July 10 at Camarillo Premium Outlets — a family-owned circus that blends tradition with innovation as its performances begin today and run until July 28.  Moorpark Acorn

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Newsom signed budget bills on June 30 that reduce the CEQA review process for home construction, aiming to lower red tape and speed infill housing development. Assemblymember Irwin said the reforms will help meet local housing targets — although critics worry they may weaken environmental safeguards — as communities work to address the housing shortage.  Moorpark Acorn
