COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Community members and officials gathered at Camino del Sol Funeral Home on July 21 to honor Jaime Alanís Garcia, a 57-year-old farmworker who fell 30 feet during a federal immigration raid outside Camarillo and died on July 12. His family now awaits a full autopsy report as they and other attendees remember him as kind and hardworking. Ventura County Star
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On July 21, Ventura police investigated a robbery near Montalvo Square Shopping Center where a 58-year-old man was hit on the arm by a crowbar and had money and a pack of cigarettes taken from his pocket — officers are asking anyone with information to call 805-650-8010. KEYT
- ➤ On July 20 at 4:09 p.m., Ventura County deputies responded to a shooting on the 4000 block of E. Center Street where a 23-year-old Piru man was shot and taken to a local hospital in stable condition — detectives continue to ask for public tips in the ongoing investigation. KEYT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today at 11:13 a.m., NASA will launch twin satellites on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg to study solar effects, with the launch visible across the region. SpaceX will also launch Starlink satellites on July 25 at 7:09 p.m. and July 29 at 8:39 a.m.—both launches feature booster landings using a drone ship in the Pacific. Ventura County Star
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Ventura County real estate data shows that in June the median price of existing single-family homes sold was $975,000 — 1% lower than in May and 1% higher than last June. Moorpark recorded the highest median at $1.21 million — with Thousand Oaks and Ojai following while Oxnard and Santa Paula had the lowest prices. Ventura County Star
