  • The Ventura County Fair opened July 30 and is drawing families with carnival rides, games, and food as it runs through Aug. 10 — the event mixes classic treats with new attractions for a lively local celebration.  Ventura County Star

CRIME NEWS

  • Jenifer Singh, also known as Jenifer Rios from Thousand Oaks, pleaded guilty to two felony counts of grand theft in connection with a rental fraud scheme that saw her collect deposits from families for a Simi Valley home she did not own — she was arrested in December 2024 at Newark Airport and now faces sentencing on August 26.  KEYT
  • Two 18-year-olds from Oak View were cited for felony evasion and other charges after riding unregistered electric motorcycles through Ojai on July 24; one rider collided with a vehicle, suffered serious injuries, and was taken to a local trauma center while the other was arrested — he taunted deputies with vulgar gestures — as authorities continue to investigate the incident.  KEYT
