CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Jonathan Caravello, a 37-year-old math professor at Channel Islands, was indicted on one count of assaulting a federal officer when he threw a tear gas canister during protests on July 10—he is out on $15,000 bail and awaits arraignment. KEYT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ California Lutheran University will move operations from its Oxnard and Westlake Village campuses to the main campus next summer as part of a plan to consolidate programs—its Santa Maria campus will remain open. Administrators said the changes will not reduce faculty, staff or programming and are designed to improve student services. Ventura County Star
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ventura emergency services manager Mackenzie Douglas announced a new program that helps residents plan for disasters like storms, earthquakes, or fires. The Ready Your Ventura Neighborhood booklet—available in English and Spanish—guides neighbors to map their block, find locals with key skills, and know where to shut off gas and water. KEYT
