Good morning, Ventura.
📰 Economy
Diesel prices have topped $8 a gallon statewide, raising costs for commuters, contractors and delivery drivers.
Experts say the higher fuel rates may soon affect grocery deliveries, transit services and farm operations in our region.
🏛️ Government
California has passed new wildfire smoke-damage laws that require insurance cover for testing and include legal presumptions of causation and mortgage relief for homeowners even when homes were not burned, a measure that may help local Ventura residents facing frequent wildfire smoke exposure.
🏥 Health
Californians should check UPC and lot codes on hand soaps in homes, schools, and workplaces after the FDA classified six Intercon products as Class II, citing bacterial contamination that could lead to infections.
The recall — announced on Sept. 11 — advises residents to stop using affected products immediately.
