ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A house fire on the 4700 block of Sand Canyon in Somis just before 3:30 p.m. Sunday killed one dog while firefighters rescued two others—one of which was revived; no other injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation. KEYT
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Oxnard-born artist Anderson .Paak walked the grounds at his .Paak House festival on Oct. 11 at CSU Channel Islands in Camarillo—he met fans and interacted with the community. Ventura County Star
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A storm is expected to start overnight, bringing steady showers, gusty winds up to 50 mph, small hail and a very slight chance of a tornado. Residents near the Mountain Fire burn scar should prepare by checking gutters and keeping devices charged for local warnings — drivers must pull over if road conditions worsen. Ventura County Star
- ➤ Dredging resumed in Channel Islands Harbor as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers uses the H.R. Morris dredge to remove sand from the harbor’s mouth to help boats move and pipe the sand to a Port Hueneme beach fighting erosion. Crews installed poles and tape to keep sea lions away from dock construction—completion is expected early next year. KEYT

- ➤ Braesen Leon threw two touchdown passes as Ventura beat Allan Hancock College 31-14, improving to 6-0 while Hancock College fell to 3-3. Former star Koen Glover rushed for 48 yards and Sincere Cohen scored a touchdown in a dominant first half for Ventura. KEYT
