- ➤ Federal EV subsidies ended last month but EV Advocates of Ventura County held events during National Drive Electric Month — showcasing displays at Port of Hueneme Banana Festival and Ventura Harbor with a range of electric vehicles from a converted minibus to newer models. - ➤ California has put new guidelines in place for employers using artificial intelligence in hiring practices effective Oct. 1—these rules require keeping records of automated decision systems and warn that companies may face legal problems if bias is found. Ventura County Star
- ➤ Oxnard residents are frustrated by the delay in shutting down the Ormond Beach power plant that has polluted local air and harmed marine life—community organizers say the state commission should reject further lease extensions. The commission will vote on a pipeline cooling extension in December while holding a town hall with three members to address public concerns. KEYT

- ➤ Prep girls volleyball ended its regular season with several wins—Santa Barbara beat Dos Pueblos 3-1, San Marcos won 3-0 over Pacifica, Ventura defeated Rio Mesa 3-0, Oxnard beat Buena 3-1, and Bishop Diego edged Del Sol 3-0 in the Tri-Valley League. In girls flag football, San Marcos won 40-0 over Pacifica, Dos Pueblos won 34-18 over Santa Barbara to share the Channel League title at a 13-1 record, and Oxnard won 38-0 over Buena. KEYT
