Good morning, Ventura. Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 8th of November.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On November 1, Fawn and Joey Parish led a blessing ceremony on West Highland Road at their fire-damaged home site to start rebuilding after the Mountain Fire—40 people gathered to offer prayers in many languages. They buried a time capsule with printed blessings and a ball globe to honor the home that once brought neighbors and international friends together.  Moorpark Acorn
  • Family members, survivors and community members will gather today at 4 p.m. at Conejo Creek Park North’s Healing Garden and Lakeside Pavilion to remember the 12 people killed in the Borderline Bar and Grill attack of November 2018. The memorial reaffirms our community’s strength in healing — honoring those lost and renewing our commitment to care.  Thousand Oaks Acorn
  • Ventura County Animal Services launched a modern mobile vet clinic on Oct. 15 to bring free or low-cost pet care like spay/neuter services, vaccinations, and checkups directly to neighborhoods—reducing shelter overcrowding and easing financial burdens for families. The clinic offers essential care to keep pets healthy and support the local community.  Moorpark Acorn
  • A review of America’s top 100 charities showed that only two support causes for older adults, leaving less than 1% of funding for seniors. Andrea Gallagher of Senior Concerns said more help is needed since seniors make up a large part of our community and will soon outnumber children.  Moorpark Acorn
