COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Holiday shoppers flocked to the Ventura County Fairgrounds Swap Meet on Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. to buy antiques, holiday decorations, and artwork from regular vendors like Bill Doggett and surf artist Ted Muñoz — who also announced a March invitational to raise funds for nonprofits; the event features a farmers market, free parking, and a $2 admission fee and will pause the week of Thanksgiving before returning the first Wednesday in December.  KEYT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ventura County Ballet brought excerpts from its 27th annual production of The Nutcracker (Nov. 17) to the Ventura Avenue Adult Center for seniors. The full performance will be held (Dec. 6 and Dec. 7) at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center.  Ventura County Star

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Oxnard City Council voted 4—3 to let Ormond Beach Power Plant operators change the site into a lithium battery storage facility, a move that may extend the plant past its planned closure if the state approves next year. Local environmentalists oppose the plan—saying it will keep the harmful effects on the community—while the Genon CEO offered to meet with critics.  KEYT
