- ➤ Three local groups will offer free Thanksgiving meals to residents facing food insecurity. Camarillo Community Church will serve food from 1 to 5 p.m. today at its client-choice pantry—while Ventura County Rescue Mission will serve a hot meal on November 26 and Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank will give out turkeys and grocery gift cards on November 22 and 25—ensuring people have dependable holiday options. - ➤ A 1977 VW bus nicknamed Azul survived the Palisades Fire on Jan. 7 and was restored in Oxnard—engineers repaired burned parts so it was shown at the Petersen Automotive Museum and will be returned to its owner early next year. Ventura County Star
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Authorities responded to an oil spill reported on November 18 off a rural stretch of Highway 150 near Ojai. Officials said cleanup crews from Carbon California and state agencies contained the release from an above-ground storage tank and are recovering oil from a tributary of Sisar Creek. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Three major pest control companies owned by Rollins Inc. agreed to pay $3.15 million over alleged hazardous waste disposal and consumer privacy violations — Ventura County will receive $125,000 in penalties and $26,880 for investigative costs. The settlement requires the companies to follow new waste management protocols and complete employee training for at least five years. KEYT
