- ➤ Ventura police engaged residents and local business owners at Frontside Café during Cocoa with a Cop on Wednesday morning. Officers said the event (led by Police Chief David Dickey) built trust through direct conversation with community members in one of the city’s busiest neighborhoods. KEYT

- ➤ SpaceX will launch its Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base today at 10:12 a.m. to send 28 Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit (spectators in Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties may view the launch if weather permits). Ventura County Star

- ➤ California King Tides peak today and again Jan. 2-3, reaching up to two feet above normal to help coastal experts gauge future sea level rise; locals are urged to admire safely (watch tide charts and keep a safe distance). Ventura County Star

- ➤ Ventura County football stars signed with colleges during the early signing period that started today. At Ventura High, Tristan Phillips chose Oregon and Derek Garcia chose UNLV, while Brady Smigel, Niles Davis and Gerrit Gray signed with Michigan, Cal and Army; signings continue until Friday, Dec. 5.
