- ➤ Today, Dec. 16, SpaceX will launch its Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base at 7:24 a.m. to deploy 27 Starlink satellites, and Ventura residents can watch from Ventura Pier or San Buenaventura State Beach — viewers might also hear brief sonic booms. Ventura County Star
- ➤ As cold weather sets in, Ventura Foul Weather Service opens an overnight shelter — offering warm meals and basic services — to help those experiencing homelessness. Community partners and volunteers back the service to keep residents safe in foul weather. KEYT
- ➤ Grandmother Sandra Alderete moved from San Jose to Ventura for her grandchildren but struggled to find housing until the Salvation Army secured her a room at The Hope Center (a nonprofit shelter). She now works at its mobile eye clinic and delivers food to neighbors. Ventura County Star
