➤ Salvador Pena Martinez from Oxnard was sentenced on Monday to 25 years, four months in prison for assaulting and kidnapping his girlfriend in 2020 when he beat her during an argument about her cell phone and forced her into his truck before fleeing; police later linked his actions to an arson at her home. ➤ Oxnard school children join the summer Space Class STEAM program where 30 scientists, engineers — including NASA Astronaut Nicole Stott — share their space knowledge through hands-on activities and a traveling museum. Today the kids will meet astronaut José Hernandez as they explore simulators designed to spark interest in future careers in science and engineering. KEYT
